2014 Challenge: The 2007-08 Financial Crisis
PInet focused its 2013-2014 data challenge on the federal policy response to the 2008 Financial Crisis in the United States. Much has been written about the causes of the financial crisis while much less has been written about the government’s response after the fact. We challenged scholars to investigate how the government responded to the crisis, both in terms of efforts to understand what went wrong, and in terms of policy action.
We held discipline specific research challenges (similar to bakeoffs) during the first phase of the grant. These challenges then served as feeders to the first PoliInformatics workshop.
